You are home from the hospital and settling into your new normal with your sweet baby. First of all, I applaud you for thinking ahead and scheduling newborn photos. I have no doubt that these will be some of your most cherished photos. Here are a few tips to help you easily prepare for your in-home newborn session.
This is something I highly recommend doing before the baby is born, maybe when you are feeling that surge of nesting energy you can add this to your to-do list! Gather your outfits and have them washed, ironed, and ready to go. I made the mistake of waiting to pick out outfits when we did our last newborn session and I vividly remember it causing a lot of unnecessary stress. Why add to the overwhelming feeling of bringing home your newborn. Your sleepy self will be so happy you took care of this in advance!
Lifestyle in-home newborn sessions are designed to go with the flow. I am fully prepared that there will be feedings and changing breaks during my time in your home. Feeding shortly before or as I arrive allows us to make the most of our time together. In those early days my newborns weren’t the most efficient and quick eaters, so just be sure to give some thought about the timing so you don’t feel stressed and rushed.
Depending on the season you might need to either turn up the heat a few clicks or turn down the AC. Babies feel more comfortable when they are nice and warm and, therefore, creating a better chance for a more successful session. Keep this in mind when choosing your outfits. You don’t want to be a sweaty mess, so dress accordingly.
